Terms & Conditions

By using our website, participating in any bookable services or using our lab services you accept these terms and conditions. Bexhill Darkroom Services reserves the right to review and update terms of service periodically.

Payments

All prices are in UK Sterling inclusive of VAT. Prices on our website are accurate at the time of publication and may change at any time. However, we will not be held responsible where an amount charged does not correlate with the figure advertised if the customer has knowingly agreed to the purchase.

Delivery

All prices include shipping charges. Any dates specified for delivery of any products are intended to be an estimate only. Goods remain the property of Bexhill Darkroom Services until the order is paid in full.

Invoices

All services must be paid in advance either online or at Bexhill Darkroom Services premises either electronically or in cash.

Deliveries

As standard all orders are shipped using a trackable courier. The courier we use may alter without notice. Orders sent out normally arrive within 1-3 working days, however, this can take up to 10 working days. Once in the hands of the third-party courier, Bexhill Darkroom Services cannot be held responsible for any lost or delayed that have been dispatched from us. 

When posting items to Bexhill Darkroom Services, the client is responsible for ensuring the correct postage costs are covered and that a secure method of delivery is selected. Bexhill Darkroom Services cannot be held accountable for any items which do not arrive safely at our location and are not responsible for locating any such items
with any courier partners.

None of the delivery methods are guaranteed or refundable.

Turnaround Time

Our lab service turnaround times are offered as a guideline and may fluctuate according to workload. If you have a tight deadline and require a quick service, please contact Bexhill Darkroom Services directly to arrange. This may incur an additional fee. We reserve the right to vary service times and accept no liability for failure to comply with quoted times resulting in any loss, direct or indirect.

Damage & Loss

We take the greatest of care while handling your work. Bexhill Darkroom Services cannot be held responsible for any loss or damage of artworks and as such Bexhill Darkroom Services accepts no liability for replacement or losses arising from the damage or loss of artwork.

Clients are responsible for backing up data including files transferred to and from Bexhill Darkroom Services. We do not guarantee an archive of past jobs so may not have access to resend files once the job has been completed.

Tonal Matching / Quality of Outcome

While we endeavour to produce accurate tones, due to the nuances across screen calibrations and chemical fluctuations, exact tonal matching to reference materials cannot be guaranteed. Bexhill Darkroom Services will provide the best tonal balance based on the quality of the negative within the possibilities of darkroom printing. Without reference materials, reproduction will be at the discretion of Bexhill Darkroom Services. When making monochrome hand prints Bexhill Darkroom Services will endeavor the get the very best out of the negative supplied, we will remove surface dust and water marks from the negative, however we do not offer a manual spotting service using inks so any scratches on the negative will appear on the print. 

Copyright

It is the responsibility of all customers to ensure that all material placed with or used at Bexhill Darkroom Services is free from any copyright claims and to indemnify us against any such claims.

Darkroom Hire 

Private darkroom hire is currently bookable via appointment only, Bexhill Darkroom Services does not provide drop-in sessions. Clients are not permitted to bring friends without prior agreement from Bexhill Darkroom Services. Clients are expected to be competent to work with the process they have booked. Bexhill Darkroom Services may advise clients to complete a 1-2-1 workshop appropriate to their darkroom hire goals. We will however provide a 10/15 minute health & safety introduction to the darkroom and run through the absolute basics of monochrome printing. 

Equipment & Materials

Clients are asked to take care when working with Bexhill Darkroom Services equipment. Bexhill Darkroom Services expects clients to follow guidelines for use provided at the start of the session. The cost of replacement or repair of any equipment damaged (other than normal wear and tear) by anyone using Bexhill Darkroom Services will be their responsibility and will need to be paid for in full before any further use of the facility is permitted.

Personal belongings are brought on to the premises entirely at the owner’s risk and no responsibility will be accepted by Bexhill Darkroom Services for any loss or damage.

Health & Safety

Bexhill Darkroom Services endeavours to create a safe working environment, adhering to MSDS and COSHH guidelines. Clients are asked to follow darkroom health and safety procedures as explained at the beginning of their session. 

Bespoke Workshops

Bespoke workshops may incur a higher rate due to additional research and preparation time. Additional time will be charged at £30 per hour, an estimate will be included in the initial quote however, if this overruns Bexhill Darkroom Services reserves the right to bill for any addition time. The final invoice will reflect the accurate timescale and cost.

Photography

Bexhill Darkroom Services may ask clients if they are comfortable with photographs taken of them using the darkroom, or for work produced at Bexhill Darkroom Services
to be reproduced and used for future promotion on Bexhill Darkroom Services website or social media. No photographs will be published without verbal or written consent.

Refund Policy

If we are unable to fulfil the whole order, clients will be refunded in full. If we can only partially fulfil an order, clients will be refunded for the services we’re unable to fulfil. 
Bexhill Darkroom Services does not offer any refunds for delayed or lost orders. Refunds will be issued via the original method of payment

Cancellation Policy

We do not offer cancellations for lab services. Once an order has been placed it is not possible to retract or amend.

For bookable services please inform us as soon as possible if you are unable to attend your session. Clients may cancel up to 48 hours prior to the session to receive a full refund or the opportunity to rebook free of penalty. Any short notice (less than 48 hours) cancellations will be subject to a cancellation fee of 50%. No shows are not refundable and will be charged full rate.

Bookable services are non-transferable. You may not resell your booking to a third party.

Bexhill Darkroom Services reserves the right to cancel a bookable service up to 48 hours before the scheduled services. Clients will be refunded in full or offered an alternative date. Bexhill Darkroom Services will not be responsible for any associated costs resulting from such a cancellation.

GDPR

Bexhill Darkroom Services follows GDPR guidelines and handles client data with care. Data is not sold to any third parties.
