Cyanotype Starter Kit In 1842, Sir John Herschel discovered that a simple mix of iron salts and sunlight could turn paper into brilliant blue images. His invention, the cyanotype, became the original “blueprint” and is still loved today for its simplicity and magic.
This kit includes everything you need to start creating your own cyanotype prints:
-
Two 100 ml bottles of Cyanotype Chemistry (Solutions A + B)
-
5 sheets of A4 digital contact film for making your own negatives
-
5 sheets of Bergger COT 320 watercolour paper for beautiful, archival results
-
2 × 2-inch foam brushes for easy coating
-
2 × 2 ml pipettes for accurate mixing
-
1 pair of nitrile gloves for safe handling
-
Comprehensive instructions for beginners and experimenters alike
-
Safety Data Sheets (SDS) for both chemistry solutions
Simply mix equal parts of A and B, brush onto paper, let it dry, and expose in sunlight with leaves, objects, or photo negatives. Rinse with water and watch your image develop into those deep, iconic Prussian blues.
